Amazon Boosts Delivery Fleet with 10,000 Rivian Electric Vans
Amazon Partners with Rivian for Electric Delivery Vehicles
Amazon.com has announced that it now has 10,000 Rivian electric vans operating in its delivery fleet across the United States and Europe. This comes as part of Amazon’s partnership with Rivian to introduce at least 100,000 electric delivery vans by 2030. In July, Amazon had already exceeded 5,000 electric vans in its fleet.
Rivian Raises Production Forecast
Rivian, known for its R1T pick-up trucks and R1S sport utility vehicles, has recently increased its production forecast for the 2023 full year to 52,000 vehicles. Amazon, as a stakeholder in Rivian, has successfully completed 150 million deliveries using Rivian vans.
Amazon Expands Collaboration with Volvo
In addition to its partnership with Rivian, Amazon is also working with Volvo to incorporate heavy-duty electric trucks into its middle-mile delivery fleet. Volvo has committed to providing 20 electric trucks to Amazon in 2022.
With the continuous expansion of its electric delivery fleet, Amazon is making significant strides towards its sustainability goals while enhancing its logistical capabilities. By incorporating electric vehicles into its operations, Amazon is contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and the advancement of cleaner transportation options.
