September Sales of Tesla’s Electric Vehicles Manufactured in China Decline by 10.9% Year-on-Year

Tesla’s China-made EV sales volume fall 10.9% year-on-year in Sept

U.S. automaker Tesla (NASDAQ:) experienced a decline in sales of its China-made electric vehicles (EVs) in September, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). The company sold 74,073 EVs during the month, marking a 10.9% decrease compared to the previous year.

The sales figures for China-made Model 3 and Model Y cars also witnessed a drop of 12.0% from the previous month. This decline in sales poses a challenge for Tesla in the Chinese market.

BYD sees strong growth in passenger vehicle deliveries

Meanwhile, Chinese automaker BYD (SZ:) experienced significant growth in passenger vehicle deliveries during the same period. With its Dynasty and Ocean series of EVs and petrol-electric hybrid models, BYD saw a remarkable 42.8% increase in sales, with 286,903 vehicles delivered last month. This figure represents a substantial surge from the 200,973 deliveries recorded in September of the previous year.

The success of BYD in the Chinese market reflects the rising demand for electric vehicles and highlights the intense competition faced by Tesla.
