Japan Stocks Lower After Wednesday’s Close

Japan stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with losses in various sectors leading to a 0.08% decline in the Nikkei 225.

Best and Worst Performers in the Session

The best performers of the session were GS Yuasa Corp., Mitsubishi Corp., and Ricoh Co., Ltd., with gains of 21.14%, 9.74%, and 6.64%, respectively. Conversely, LY Corp, Daikin Industries, Ltd., and Asahi Kasei Corp. were the worst performers, experiencing declines of 7.22%, 7.07%, and 6.57%.

Stock Movement on the Tokyo Stock Exchange

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 1930 falling, 1694 advancing, and 258 remaining unchanged.

Highs and Lows

Shares in Mitsubishi Corp. rose to all-time highs, recording a 9.74% increase to reach 2,782.00.

Market Volatility and Commodity Trading

The volatility index for Nikkei 225 options increased by 2.99%, while crude oil for March delivery saw a slight 0.01% rise to $73.32 a barrel. In commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.04% to $78.56 a barrel, and the April Gold Futures contract dropped 0.14% to trade at $2,048.55 a troy ounce.

Forex and Dollar Index

The USD/JPY pair rose by 0.07% to 148.04, and the EUR/JPY pair saw a 0.10% increase to 159.27. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.05% to 104.02.
