France to Provide Armored Vehicles and Missiles to Ukraine in Fight Against Russia
France Supports Ukraine with Military Aid
France announced its decision to supply Ukraine with old armored vehicles and new surface-to-air missiles to aid in its conflict with Russia. French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu revealed this plan, stating that President Emmanuel Macron had requested the preparation of a new aid package after discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Armored Vehicles for Ukrainian Army
Lecornu emphasized the importance of providing armored vehicles to the Ukrainian army to enhance troop mobility along the extensive front line. France plans to deliver hundreds of VAB front-line troop carriers in 2024 and early 2025, meeting Ukraine’s urgent requirements for defense.
New Surface-to-Air Missiles for Ukraine
Additionally, France is set to release a new batch of Aster 30 surface-to-air missiles, capable of intercepting warplanes, drones, and cruise missiles within a 120 km range. Lecornu highlighted the critical need for improved ground-air defense in Ukraine, especially considering the escalating attacks from Russia on civilians and infrastructure.
Accelerated Production for Defense
To expedite support, France is fast-tracking the production of remotely operated ammunition for Ukraine, with plans to deliver as early as this summer. Lecornu also mentioned the possibility of European nations sending troops to Ukraine, indicating a collective effort to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
France’s Commitment to Security
France’s commitment to providing military aid to Ukraine underscores its dedication to strengthening international security and defending against aggression. The strategic support offered by France reflects a united front against destabilizing forces in the region.
