Swiss Doctor Brings Injured Children from Gaza to Geneva for Medical Care

Swiss Doctor’s Mission to Help Injured Children

Swiss doctor Raouf Salti, unable to travel to Gaza to aid injured children, made it his mission to bring them to Geneva for medical care. After overcoming bureaucratic hurdles, Salti successfully brought four children, including a 16-year-old who lost a kidney and had his leg amputated, to Switzerland.

A Heartwarming Arrival in Geneva

Having traveled to Egypt to pick them up, Salti arrived at Geneva airport with a team to welcome the children, including 17-month-old Zeina who was rescued from the rubble in Gaza. Salti’s dedication to bringing these children to safety was evident as he embraced them upon their arrival in Switzerland.

Overcoming Obstacles

As a urological surgeon and descendant of Palestinian refugees, Salti had planned to perform surgeries in Gaza but had to cancel due to the Israeli offensive. He founded an NGO called Children’s Right for Healthcare and has successfully evacuated eight children from Gaza to Switzerland for medical treatment.

Providing a New Lease on Life

Salti emphasized the importance of giving the children a chance at a normal life, filled with love and peace. The children, carefully chosen based on their medical needs and ability to travel, will receive 90-day visas for medical care in Switzerland.

Challenges Faced by the Children

  • Sixteen-year-old Yussef, who suffered severe injuries in an Israeli attack, is in critical condition and requires extensive medical care to regain strength and mobility.
  • Zeina, the 17-month-old, sustained multiple fractures and infections, highlighting the dire medical conditions in Gaza.

A Message of Hope

Salti’s efforts to bring these children to safety serve as a beacon of hope in the midst of conflict and adversity. His dedication to providing crucial medical care to vulnerable children reflects the resilience and compassion of the human spirit.
