Chinese Newspaper Plans to Launch NFT Platform and Metaverse
China Daily Takes a Leap into the World of NFTs
China Daily, an English-language newspaper owned by the Department of Publicity of the Communist Party of China, is venturing into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by creating its own metaverse and NFT platform.

In a recent announcement, China Daily revealed that it is allocating 2.813 billion yuan (approximately $390,000 USD) to an external contractor who can design the NFT platform within the specified budget. The contractor can be either Chinese or foreign and must specialize in blockchain technology. Additionally, the winning blockchain company must have a mainnet capable of handling over 10,000 transactions per second.
Deadline for Innovation
Contractors have until October 17th to submit their applications and design the platform within a three-month timeframe. The goal of China Daily’s NFT Platform is to “enhance the dissemination of Chinese Civilization’s influence” through technologies such as the metaverse, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (AR), blockchain, non-replaceable digital assets (NFTs), big data, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies.
