Wall Street’s Main Indexes Start the Day in the Red
Wall Street’s main indexes kicked off the day with a downward trend as U.S. Treasury yields remained at multi-year highs. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s hawkish comments added to the market’s concerns. Additionally, ongoing tensions in the Middle East continued to fuel investor anxiety.
Stocks Open Lower
At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 48.90 points or 0.15%, settling at 33,365.27. The S&P 500 also opened lower by 4.15 points or 0.10%, reaching 4,273.85. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite experienced a decline of 28.40 points or 0.22%, standing at 13,157.77.
